Sony originally stated that their motion controller would be out this spring. They have now said that it will be released this fall, and possibly under the name "Arc". I hope Sony spends this extra time perfecting the "Arc", because now it will be released in closer proximity to Microsoft's own motion sensor, Project Natal. According to Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg, the company is focusing all of it's attention on Project Natal (as opposed to looking forward into 3D gaming), and I can see why. People look ridiculous playing the Wii. Take away the controllers, and you've got what Project Natal in your living room will look like. They need all the time they can get in hope of making decent commercials.
I hope with all of this time and focus both companies can put out a useful product for their game base. No offense to the Wii, but PS3 and Xbox360 gamers alike want games that put them in the thick of the action (or story), and if the motion controller gets in the way, it won't be used.
Xbox's Project Natal:
These both will most likely be the Christmas gift to get for 2010, opening up more parents to buy a PS3 or an Xbox360 because, "Hey, at least my kids are getting off the couch", which is the #1 selling point of the Wii.
