PSPgo

Being an avid reader of Game Informer, I stumbled upon the seemingly unwanted PSPgo through a few articles heavily bashing the hand held. It wasn't just a bunch of jargon, the reasons given were logical.

Why would you buy something almost as much as a PS3 that can only take selected download-able titles?
Why didn't we here in America get the 'free 3 online game vouchers for games already owned' like those in the UK did?
Why in the world would you come out with a digital only hand held game console when your own data showed that less than 40% of people were looking for a digital only hand held?

Do they know something we don't? Is the price of plastic going up so high that soon blue-ray disks will be $300 a piece? Are we just too lazy to keep track of all of our games anymore? Is there a miniature White House on display somewhere made entirely out of forlorn jewel cases currently listed on Ebay for millions? Maybe it's all in global warming.

Obviously PlayStation is going to sell it's own product, so I wasn't surprised that the March issue of PlayStation Magazine had on it's cover "PSPgo -49 reasons you need one right now!". Okay, I know I do not need one, but I was very curious to read these 49 reasons.

Here are a few that I was given in the 6 page article:

It comes with 16GB of internal memory (you have to buy sticks for the PSP slim)
You can pause the game at ANY TIME!
It has rubberized grips on the back of it (in case you aren't really holding onto your $250 product)
You can watch Dexter and Star Trek on it.
You can link it to your PS3, if you have one of those as well.

Okay... does anyone out there even own a PSPgo? We have the original PSP here and let me tell you, it doesn't get played very often. When you start collecting tech, enough has got to be enough. Do we really need to hook our PSP to our PS3 so we can finish the level while we sit on the toilet? Why do we need a smart phone, a laptop, some sort of hand held (DS, PSP), some sort of console (Xbox, Wii, PS3) and a Kindle (or Nook)?

Don't even get me started on the Ipad.

Please, someone out there give me a good reason to have this little machine. One that is specific to the 'go. Money is being spent manufacturing this.
